Within the reception range of a DGPS
Reference-Station, the MultiNav 2000 or LX500TR gives the pilot
a very helpfull tool: The units enables the pilot to perform
"simulated precision approaches" without the installation
of expensive ILS ground equipment under the condition that a
DGPS Reference Station is installed on this airport or landing
strip. The instrument LC-Display shows a digital crosspointer
indication with all needed information for the flight crew. plot
of the vertical deviation from the desired glideslope ot the
aircraft.

The entire system consists of 3 parts:
- MultiNav 2000 DGPS Handheld or LX500TR
- DGPS Reference-Station
- Monitoring PC with LOVIAS-Software
The Handheld DGPS or LX500TR provides
the following features:
- 8 channel parallel GPS receiver
- Uplink reciver UHF to receive the DGPS
correction signal
- Downlink transmitter UHF to transmit
aircraft data to the ground
- Airport- and navaid-database with up
to apporx. 5000 points (user editable with PC)
- 600 userprogrammable routes, with 10
waypoints each
- 100 unserprogrammable routes, with
10 waypoints each
- Flight recording capability
- Graphic-Display which shows: airspacestrusture
and actual position of the aircraft
- Firmware-and database-update via PC

The aircraft GPS automatically records all position data of the airplane. The recording update rate may be set by the user between 1 and 40 seconds. At an update rate of 20 seconds, the unit is able to store 30 hours flight data. The read-out and afterflight analysis will be done by PC. The picture left shows a recorded demo flight of a Panavia TORNADO fighter aircraft of the german Luftwaffe.
The flight recording capability enables pilots, flight instructors and other people to analyze entire flight mission after the flight on a normal PC. The necessary basic software package wqill be delivered with each unit.
